About TISS
Established in 1936, the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) began as the Sir Dorabji Tata Graduate School of Social Work. Over the years, we have earned prestigious recognition, including being recognized as a Deemed University by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of India. Today, TISS is a Government of India Institution, highly regarded by various Ministries of the Government of India, State Governments, international agencies such as the United Nations, and the non-government sector, both nationally and internationally.
TISS' programs that we offer
The School of Vocational Education, through which these programs are conducted, was set up to impart skill education through appropriately designed vocational education programs. The focus is on developing job-specific skills rather than providing only a broad knowledge-based education.
